Choosing a career that aligns perfectly with your skills, values and interests is never easy. The current COVID-19 situation has just worsened this grinding reality, leaving the students with no choice but to take up the first opportunity coming up their way, the consequences of which might be (just to be subtle) disastrous. A recent finding showed that 90% people aged between 21 and 65 agreed to be regretting for rushing their career choices. Switching careers can be just as expensive, costing students an estimated £70,000 over a two-year period, according to Career Hunter.
Our extensive research at SimpliClariFy spelt out very clearly that this happens because many students pick a career choice randomly because they simply don't know what they want to do and feel pushed to decide because they are 'running out of time’. The study revealed one more not-so-proud jarring fact that 93% of the Indian students, on an average, are aware of just seven career option. Students bear this crunch with no fault of theirs. The primary reason for this ignorance is the lack of network to look upto.
SimpliClarify, a VIT alumni startup, attempts to be a mediator between the students and their (supposedly chosen) career path by recommending and connecting the students with people who have achieved what they dream to pursue. Briefly, a student can simply have a 1-on-1 video call with the people who were once at their position and have walked the path that they aspire to. With this initiative, we wish to enable students to have a sneak-peek into the path by providing them with an opportunity to receive mentoring from the ones that they wish to be.
SimpliClarify is a very simple tool for students which provides students an opportunity to clarify all their doubts, conceptions, and queries before they make a decision on where to go forward with their careers, unlike the consulting “Expert” convincing them to do a master’s abroad. The students can directly book a slot for any student mentor. We have student mentors from diverse fields to guide students about the ample opportunities that they have.
As for now, SimpliClarify is live for students who aspire to pursue a master's degree after their Bachelor’s. We recommend all the aspiring students to have a call with our mentors as they can really help them to ease their decision making and add more clarity to it. We also recommend students who have made up their minds for jobs to also speak to these people as most of them have worked her in India as well and could guide them on their profile development, the pros, and cons of a job life here in India and abroad.
