ART AND EMOTION

An article by our reader, Anjali Roongta

Title: The Starry Night

Art: Vincent Van Gogh

Year: 1889

The moment in life where everything starts falling off, something new awaits, a new journey begins. The period where you confine yourself, when your illness has revealed itself, it can be hard to live with. On May 8, 1889, the artist entered the asylum when he found out about his hallucinations and his attacks in which he lost consciousness, a part of depression.

The Starry Night is a mix of his imagination versus the reality he could see through his window every day. The use of dark colours in his paintings as a representation of the thoughts he had in his head. The sky is represented as a part which is unachievable and can be that beautiful only in imaginations. The trees, the stars and the houses, each gives a beautiful impact in the minds of the people. It leaves its impressions all over. Imagination could never be better depicted.

A human's past life plays a very crucial role in how their present is. Pain and sufferings make you stronger but they also affect you emotionally. The sorrows of his life are portrayed in all his arts. During the days he was going through the most difficult phases he came out strong with his work. His dedication and passion, never seen better. At times of being lonely, his love for art kept him occupied.

The love for what you do makes you accomplish more than anything. Do something you've always wanted to do, work hard towards what you feel gives you happiness. It's not just about having a career that you can work on, but it is also about how you feel when you do it. The essence of loving what you do lies in your hands, your judgement, let the world talk, but believe in yourself.
