TOP TRENDS FOR THIS FALL SEASON

It’s probably been a while since you busted out your blush brushes and lipstick, but if the changing weather has you wanting to play with some fall makeup looks, we don’t blame you. Even under normal circumstances, summer is usually about less-is-more makeup, and the pandemic has basically wiped out any desire to get dolled up. But after months of embracing our makeup-free selves, we’re finally ready to have some fun with makeup again.

Amongst classic fall makeup trends like rusty shadow and berry lips are an endless array of out-there looks like graphic liner and TikTok-inspired techniques. We should be open to vibrant reds and orange lip color, and eyes can be adorned with rich jewel tones or artistic liner. Obviously, the focus this year is on our eyes (wear a mask!), but glowy skin is always in style.

OKAY LET'S GET STARTED

1. MONOCHROME ROSEY

Monochromatic makeup is a foolproof way to look perfect effortlessly, it basically takes zero effort to achieve. Done in an almost rusty rose, it’s perfectly fall appropriate. To get the look in seconds, tap a multiuse cream blush on eyes, lips, and cheeks.

2. THE SUBTLE LINER

Sometimes all it takes is a small flick of eyeliner to pull your whole face together. For this effect, use a pencil liner in a deep charcoal instead of black. Start your wing at the outer corner, and gently blur—don’t smudge—the edges with your finger before it dries. Skip mascara but be generous with the highlighter for the freshest look.

3. TORTOISESHELL EYES

Been seeing army greens, khaki, and brown eye shades that are beautifully blended and shimmering. Soon, we’ll see that push further into fall since these shades complement a wide range of eye colors and skin tones.

4. DUSTY PASTELS

The trick to making pastels work for fall? Look for shades that have a gray base instead of a traditional white for more of a dusty, vintage vibe. Apply it over a cream base for a full-on retro look, or just pat some on with your finger for a watercolor wash.

5. BOLD RED

Bold red lips are in season. A long-wear liquid (will stay put under your mask, and a quick swipe will wake up your face for a video call, even if you have nothing else on.

6. JEWEL-TONE EYES

Fall is the perfect time to dip into richer tones like emerald, sapphire, and amethyst. Keep everything else neutral to make your eyes really pop.

7. COLORFUL EYELINER

Since we’re masked up, it’s a great time to play with eye makeup, but let’s be honest: Sometimes shadow can feel like too much work. The easiest way to wear a pop of color is with a swipe of a colorful eyeliner.

8.GLOSSY LIPS

While our lips may be covered more than usual this year, gloss isn’t going anywhere.

9.DEEP BERRY LIPS

If red isn’t your vibe but you’re after a statement lip, try a rich berry shade. “We all love a deep lipstick for fall, and this is a fresher take on the standard burgundies and dark browns we usually see

10. FOX EYE LINER

The fox-eye trend started on TikTok as a way to get a lifted, more defined eye that usually requires a procedure like a brow lift. A light concealer under your eyes and the wings will make you look super snatched.
