What is MINIMALISM ?

A movement in sculpture and painting which arose in the 1950s, characterized by the use of simple, massive forms.

Sometime ago when we were not confined to our houses, after a lazy lunch and the obligatory Marlboro that goes with it, my phone buzzed with a notification from the Architectural Digest stating “Kim and Kanye Quiz Each Other On Home Design, Family, and Life”. I was reminded how the power couple has always embraced minimalism be it their three-button switches or the infamous flat sink, their mindfulness is reflected in every part of their “minimal monastery”.

Minimalism is a fad known to all but practiced by some. In fact, most people are just about limited to minimalistic wallpapers on their phones to say the very least. Minimalism is much more! It is estimated that we only wear 20 percent of our wardrobe and stowing away the rest of it in neatly aligned shelves which still remain untouched. This only leads to what will forever remain excessive clutter or what usually translates into plethoric buying sprees.

Minimalism is in the demeanour and manner of thinking and not about shading your palette or the number of things in your closet. This is where minimalism mingles with sustainable fashion; the new writing of minimalism is loaded with distressing guidance. The basic mantra is ‘TAKE STOCK AND UNLOAD THE UNNECESSARY’. Get up ahead of schedule, get each thing you own, and think about whether it flashes satisfaction, dispose of the things you purchased to intrigue individuals and scale back your loft. Realize that it's conceivable to live richly with just a hundred belongings. Contemplate what empowers you to carry on with the most ideal life. Minimalism isn’t a trend or a vogue, but rather, a way of life to help us declutter from behavioural trends and to settle down for those in search of comfort with calmness. Minimalism is not a compulsion and may not be for some, it is up to you to decide how you want to live.
