Mighty Mumbai Indians win their fifth IPL title

Over the thirteen years in the IPL history, Mumbai Indians have the most wins including their latest win against Delhi Capitals in the T20 league IPL 2020. This year, the season took place in Dubai, UAE for the second time outside India, due to the pandemic. The IPL 2014 Yet the robustness of the matches were kept tight even with a no-audience set up in empty stadiums.

The eight teams fought well amongst each other and the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals finally reached the finals where the MI defeated the DC by five wickets. Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians had faced Delhi Capitals three times before they emerged victorious in the season's finale. Well, surprisingly MI saw their win all the four times when played against DC. Sharma also says he's happy to break the jinx for the team for winning only in the odd years and showing that anything is possible,

"We indeed went even this season".

In fact, it is Sharma's sixth title in the IPL history, having won the 2009 title as a player for Deccan Chargers.

The Mumbai Indians chased down the 157-run target set by Delhi Capitals in 18.4 overs with five wickets in hand to claim their fifth Indian Premier League title. The MI skipper led from the front with a super half-century and young Ishan Kishan stayed unbeaten on 33 as MI made light work of the chase. Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant struck impressive fifties to propel DC to 156/7 in the IPL 2020 final against Mumbai Indians in Dubai today. Iyer remained unbeaten on 65 off 50 balls and Pant scored 56 off 38 balls. This happened after MI’s Trent Boult removed Marcus Stoinis and Ajinkya Rahane early and then got the important wicket of Shimron Hetmyer. DC won the toss and opted to bat first in the Indian Premier League 2020 final in Dubai, UAE today. Jayant Yadav cleaned up Shikhar Dhawan to further strengthen MI’s position in the match. MI brought in off-spinner Jayant Yadav in place of leg-spinner Rahul Chahar while DC went in with an unchanged XI.

Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals have earned the right to be in the finals of what can be termed as the toughest and most evenly contested IPLs in the history of the tournament. The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League saw all 8 teams winning six matches each for the first time but in the end, the table-toppers defending champions Mumbai Indians and first-timers Delhi Capitals beat everyone else to earn the rights to be in the finals.
