To a lot of people, fashion psychology sounds like “wardrobe therapy”, which isn’t all what they do. A cognitive psychologist who applies psychological science to the context of fashion might want to take this up as a study and later, as a profession, too. This doesn’t imply that the person is concerned only with clothing. Rather, this links it with human behaviors across all aspects of fashion from designing through the entire supply chain of styling, to style consumption and disposal, too. Such people are concerned with the very varied individual, societal, and psychological issues that result directly or indirectly from fashion strategies and the industry involved.


While we delve deeper into the rubrics of personal branding, it's imperative for us to identify how fashion makes us feel better about ourselves. As a simple piece of clothing, a T-shirt or a mere accessory can become an important communication tool for us. This helps in conveying the type of professionals we are in our respective fields and the niche of work we prefer. For example, for someone who's an artist, would love dressing up in outfits that are artsy and give out an aesthetic vibe. Similarly, to a corporate person and a work maniac, a black suit and formal shoes seem perfect. Fashion might be like passion to some, but for others it could be driven by a personal need. This subject in fact, is a very subjective one. The clothing strategy that you want to adopt is something very personal to you, based on what makes you feel good or confident before stepping out in the real world, because at the end of the day, this is what therapy feels like, right? Fashion strategies and the industry involved.
