Fashion and Incentives

While the fashion business influences the way we think, the basic incentives that we choose to see is what influences today’s fashion

You take a step back before you try to tamper with hot oil, if you don't you might burn yourself. You work harder for an exam to get a good grade so that you get the bike you were promised. If you work out in proper form, you target the right muscles and get the body you want while on the other hand, if you don't follow the right form, you don't get the look you want to achieve. If you don't sleep soundly enough after exerting yourself, you don't perform well in your exam or you don't wake up and miss it, hence missing the chance of getting what your parents promised. An incentive is a means of urging people to do what they do only enhanced, almost transcended, and everything you do revolves around the incentives you focus on.

Everybody defines their own style and fashion. A particular person's panache or apparel style might be more appealing to others thus becoming a statement. From television shows like ‘America’s Next Top Model’ to the intricate social costumes we see across any city, it can never be enough. Some people like more creative and artistic combinations, while some fancy pastels or minimalistic clothing. Our everyday flair depends, entirely, on our choice which inherits diversity from each person. Everything that happens around us, the kind of outfits we choose to wear, the efforts we put in to decide a particular outfit, and how we carry ourselves lets us exemplify our own fashion and is solely influenced by the type of incentives one considers or the motivations that drive us. While this ever-growing fashion business sways the way we think, the basic incentives that we choose to see are what shape today’s fashion.

We meet an endless number of people in a day and at times, instinctively, we tend to see a person through what they wear. The way you carry yourself is the first impression you project on others. A fresher might put in more effort to dress up, choose distinct apparels, and try on new combinations because they want their first impression to be dramatic in an altogether new and unknown atmosphere. A year later, when we mingle with the people we are comfortable with, we engage ourselves into the things we like and having reached the desired standing, we no longer focus on putting that much effort on what we wear or how we carry ourselves. Sometimes we merely pick the first thing we see in our wardrobes and feel snug in it. After a point, comfort seems to usurp this incentive that once seemed to guide us. A person who used to decide what to wear a day before, wake up early to take a bath and dress up before an 8 AM class on their first day of college may now wake up fifteen minutes before their class and simply don't put in the same toil and still slay.

Whenever we enter a new environment, we put in more effort, we look our best in our opinion and try to look unexampled which is how we define our own fashion in daily life. We wear our cherished dresses for date nights, our favourite pair of jeans to the mall while we don't touch them for an entire month when in quarantine. Going out is an incentive and carrying yourself in a good fashion is what ranks highest.

So everything you do, every way in which you characterise yourself depends on the incentives you choose and these, in turn, define the way you carry yourself and slay in your own way.
