Dustin Johnson bags $15 million after winning the FedEx cup

"Being the FedEx Champion is something that I want to do. It's something that I want on my resume when I quit playing golf" says the 36-year old American golfer. He is considered to be the world's number 1-ranked golfer and has remained on top for 64 consecutive weeks.

Dustin Johnson completes the PGA Tour Championship with a three-shot history, winning the FedEx Cup with a $15 million prize money. Being one of the tough golf courses, there is no safe lead in this game. Johnson became the first No. 1 seed at the Tour Championship to win the FedEx Cup since Tiger Woods in 2009. He is closing in on becoming only the fifth player to top $70 million in career earnings. This PGA season, he finished with a 10-foot birdie, matching the low round with a 6-under 64 to build a 5-shot lead over the other players like Justin Thomas and Xander Schauffele.

Golf like many other sports around the world was shut down officially for three months and when it restarted, Johnson was No. 111 in the FedEx Cup. And then, he won the Travelers Championship followed with a pair of 80s in the Memorial and a 78 at the 3M Open in Minnesota. He withdrew from that Championship but never gave up and the next thing we know two months later, he's the FedEx Cup champion. He is said to have kept up with the spirit of sportsmanship and a deep longing for the trophy has led him to believe that nothing is unachievable. Even with his recent knee surgery and few other injuries he always thrives to be the best.

Johnson now has six FedEx Cup postseason victories. He is the only player to win each of the four World Golf Championships. He has won every year except 2014 since he joined the PGA Tour in 2008. Johnson has 23 wins in his 13th year on the PGA Tour. He has been compared to Philip Mickelson 'Lefty', one of the great golfers in history who also had 23 wins (one major) in his 13th year on the PGA Tour but he never reached No. 1 in the world.

After winning the Cup, he says it would be nice to spend some time with his family but only for a couple of days since there is an upcoming tournament the US Opens which has been scheduled ten days after his achievement. He focuses on the mental rest one requires after a tough game and when one gives his best in the game, there is automatically a feeling of content from within. Even if the body is physically fine, the mind needs rest and that's the most important thing in golf being mentally prepared, believes Johnson. It is definitely not interesting for players to play without the fans, but now they have to get used to it, despite having played in front of the fans their whole career.

Dustin Johnson recently recovered from a knee surgery.
