CREDITS DE DO YAAR!

I am most thankful for this quarantine due to COVID-19 because it was able to highlight one of the very few important issues of this nation related to its media, film industry, and the music industry. No, I am not going to talk about how Sushant Singh Rajput's death changed a lot of things, because we all know that nepotism and corruption have the deepest roots in this nation. Today I am going to talk about something which is less damaged and can be recovered if noticed.

India is a developing country and thus there are a lot of things developing with it. Let us talk about how the trend of music is becoming a big deal in this nation and how people are noticing the value of the authentic songs and lyrics, but here comes the tricky part, you all know who sang the song, but you never know who wrote it and this is because they are never given the spotlight they deserve. Have you ever thought that how important it is to get the right set of words to express the right emotion in a song and a song is nothing without lyrics? We have never even noticed the lyricist behind the songs. For those of you who do not know it, let me tell you that all the songs that Arijit Singh sang and all the songs that A.R. Rehman composed were not written by them, there were a set of lyricists working behind "Kun Faya Kun" to make it sound so heavenly, there were so many songs sung by so many singers across the country but the pen behind their words was always someone else and they get paid well for this, but by not giving them credits we are disrespecting their artform.

In the recent times, the leading lyricists of India like Kausar Munir, Varun Grover, and Swanand Kirkire along with other well-known lyricists released a track called "Credit De Do Yaar" in establishing their importance as a lyricist and it was a good sight for them as the video gained quite a popularity and with this one of the most important topic came into our notice. So next time when we listen to a song, let us try to find out who wrote the song, next time when we cover a song let us give credits to the lyricists as well and next time let us not forget to ask ourselves a question, "ga voh rahe hai, par shabd kinke hai?". Respect is what they are looking forward to, so please credits de do yaar.
